Amphitryon

France - Disbanded.

Description

Death/Doom, Atmospheric Doom

Although this unique group came from France, their concepts seemed to have been based on Greek mythology and taken a significant amount of influence from noteworthy Greek band Septicflesh. Much like the early days of the well-known pioneers of Symphonic Death Metal, Amphitryon played doomy Atmospheric Death Metal that combined abrasive, heavy riffs and low growled male vocals with haunting clean male and female singing. The clean vocals are utilized in the form of a choir, which alternated with the harsh male vocals as though reenacting a play. Their full-length album, Sumphokeras is highly recommended for those who enjoy more dramatic, orchestral sounding bands such as Virgin Black, as well as the more atmospheric sounding Death/Doom of Crestfallen and Whispering Forest.
