| Funeral Doom Wijlen Wij is a funeral doom project by four of the biggest names in the underground of the subgenre: Kostas Panagiotou (Pantheïst, Bellator), Kris Villez (In Somnis, ex-Pantheïst), Lawrence Van Haecke (Solicide), and Stijn Van Cauter (Until Death Overtakes Me, ex-Pantheïst). They themselves describe Wijlen Wij to mean "'late we' and it represents the macabre aspects of (non)existence, the rawness of death and the inevitability of decay". They do this by combining the thick, majestic sound of Pantheïst with the wast atmospheres of Until Death Overtakes Me. Thus this project ends up as having the best of both worlds. |
